Doing what I love and bringing science out into the community ...

One of the greatest gifts you can give is your time and last week I stepped away from the office and spent the day at my local primary school during their Annual Science Week Programme in my voluntary role as a STEM Ambassador. I had a great time working practically with the year 6 pupils, teaching them all about the human heart by dissecting the heart of a pig. This type of activity is a great opportunity to take your STEM skillset and ‘pay it forward,’ encouraging students to be curious, brave and of course ask lots of questions! If you work in STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) why not consider volunteering? I personally find this role so rewarding and worthwhile and who knows, it could be you inspiring the next generation to accomplish amazing things.
